Virginia is the first of North Carolina's border neighbors to postpone the fall sports season until 2021.

Football teams in the Georgia High School Association began practice on Monday, but the date for first games has been postponed until Sept. 4. Other fall sports are scheduled to begin practice on Aug. 1.

The South Carolina High School League has delayed the start of fall practice from July 31 to Aug. 17. Football season has been reduced to seven games, beginning Sep. 11. Total games have been reduced in all fall sports and the playoff schedule has been shortened.

Tennessee will limit contact in practices until at least Aug. 30. The Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association is weighing a number of contingency plans, some of which include cutting the number of games and the number of playoff qualifiers.

The N.C. High School Athletic Association began allowing limited workouts to resume on June 15, but participation is up to each individual school district. The official start to fall sports in North Carolina has been delayed until at least Sep. 1.
