RALEIGH, N.C. — Tucker, a 22-year-old cat who gained a huge social media following as he explored the Oak City, died Monday.

Owners of the over-sized, half-tabby, half-Maine coon posted on Tucker's Instagram page that he passed away peacefully in their arms Monday morning.

"He will be missed. He will be loved forever by so many," the owners wrote.

Tucker and his grumpy look amassed more than 11,000 followers on Instagram. Owner Ron Kirk announced in September that Tucker would be retiring.

“You don’t see a cat like him walking down the street. You don’t see a cat this old, and you don’t see a cat with this sort of attitude who takes it out on people on social media," Kirk has said of his cat.
