Wake Forest police are looking for the people behind graffiti found over the weekend on Sanford Creek Greenway. The apparent vandalism happened between 9 p.m. on Saturday and 7 a.m. on Sunday.

The graffiti will likely cost the town between $2,000 to $3,000 to clean up. For now, the town has temporarily covered the graffiti. But many of the signs will have to be replaced due to the damage.

The graffiti shows crude, sexual images and paintings of swastikas.

Wake Forest Police are asking for the public's help in locating the person or persons who defaced the signage in the park. The police said it "relies on the Town's citizens to be its 'eyes and ears.'"

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Wake Forest Police Department at 919-554-6150. The department assures callers will remain anonymous.
