Missing Durham 14-year-old found safe

Update: Shania Mitchell-Smith was found safe Thursday evening, according to police

Durham police are searching for a 14-year-old girl who has been missing since last Wednesday.

Shania Mitchell-Smith was last seen leaving the Comfort Inn on Hillandale Road at about 8 p.m. on Dec. 13.

She is described as being black, 5 feet, 8 inches tall and weighing 100 pounds. She was last seen wearing gray sweatpants, a black hoodie with white print on the front and red high-top Air Force one sneakers.

She was carrying a leopard print duffle bag filled with clothes and a black and gray backpack containing a laptop when the left the hotel, police said.
